FAQ
Is Claudictive free?
Yes — free during the public beta. After that, the core product stays free; we may add optional paid tiers (cloud sync, team features) later. You bring your own Claude access; we never bill you.
Does it run on Mac or Linux?
No. Claudictive is built on Overwolf, which is Windows-only. Mac/Linux support would require a different overlay architecture and isn't on the near-term roadmap. If you want to be notified if that changes, join the waitlist below and we'll let you know.
Do I need a Claude API key — or does Claude Pro / Max work?
Either works. Claudictive talks to your local Claude Code CLI, so whatever auth method you've already set up there (API key, Pro subscription, Max subscription, or AWS Bedrock / Vertex) carries over automatically. You don't enter credentials in Claudictive.
What languages and frameworks does it support?
Anything Claude Code can edit — which is essentially every language and framework. The overlay doesn't care about your stack; it just relays your messages to Claude and shows the diffs Claude produces.
Does it work with VS Code? JetBrains? Vim?
It works alongside any editor. When you exit your game, your overlay conversation hands off to your active Claude Code CLI session — wherever that's running (VS Code, JetBrains, terminal, etc.). The overlay itself is the editor while you're in-game.
How does it not interfere with my game?
By default Claudictive shows a small "pill" status indicator. Only when you press your hotkey does the chat panel expand. Default hotkeys are Ctrl+Shift combos so they don't clash with game controls. You can rebind any hotkey in Settings.
Will I get banned for using this?
Claudictive is built on Overwolf — an officially sanctioned overlay framework used by hundreds of apps and allowed by every major game publisher (Riot, Valve, Blizzard, EA, etc.). It doesn't modify game files, read game memory, or automate input.
Does it support my game?
If Overwolf supports your game, Claudictive runs on it — that's hundreds of titles including League, Valorant, CS2, Apex, WoW, Dota 2, Minecraft, Fortnite, Path of Exile, and more.
Where is my data stored?
Locally only. Conversation transcripts and stats live in %APPDATA%/claudictive/ on your machine. Nothing leaves your device unless you explicitly opt in (e.g. submitting a bug report with logs attached).
How do I install it?
Claudictive ships through the Overwolf App Store. Once we launch publicly, install it like any other Overwolf app — one click. Until then, join the waitlist for early access.
